What is in Beginner Cornucopia No. 1?

Beginner Cornucopia is divided into three parts. The first is in G, the second in F, and the third in A minor. Mr. Lewis thinks that most kids in their first piano lessons will be able to learn this composition, especially if the left hand is taken out (note that the first two parts can have the left hand taken out. The third one has more involvement with both hands).

A big problem with a lot of beginner songs is that sometimes they’re still kind of hard for some students to learn. Nursery Rhymes like Row, Row, Row your Boat, London Bridge is Falling Down, and Brother Jacques can be hard for some students to learn. This is meant to be easier to learn then those songs.

Here’s the main goal of this composition.

The music in Beginner Cornucopia No. 1 is designed to be either the first songs a student learns, or part of a collection of songs in the students’ first six weeks of lessons. By the way, these statements are not meant to apply to all students. Everybody is different; all students have different skillsets, different personalities, different levels of interest in the piano, etc. Furthermore, this composition has not had very much usage. The only evidence Alex Lewis has of his claims as of the 4th of April, 2023, is that it has seemed to improve one of Mr. Lewis’ students in his overall ability to play piano.

More experience will be required in order for Mr. Lewis to be confident in this approach with this beginner song. If you’re a parent or piano teacher who might be interested in using this sheet music as part of a beginner repertoire for your child or student, then please purchase this sheet music. Perhaps you could even tell Mr. Lewis what your experience has been teaching this music. If you do decide to do that, Mr. Lewis thanks you.

Beginner Cornucopia No. 1 might be the beginning of a slightly new approach to teaching. Perhaps it has been tried before, but Mr. Lewis thinks that this might be a better way to start students off in piano lessons. Time will tell if this ends up being true.
